The presentations were followed by an update from our training partners, Disabled Living Foundation (DLF), on their Telecare Trusted Accessor training and also on three on-line resources (Living Made Easy, AskSARAH and ProAssist).  The University of Cumbria then gave a presentation on their PGC for Digital Health which ended with a panel session on training within the TECS industry.

UKTHC November Digital

MarketPlace & Falls Panel

(11.00-13.00) Tuesday 23rd November 2021

 Detection – Medication – Prevention

We would like to thank our three presenters from Legrand, Easylink and Yourmeds for introducing a range of innovative ideas and equipment to address the prevention and detection of falls.  All three presenters then joined Phil Bridges (Oyster Technology) who chaired the panel secession together with Aaron Edwards (Tec Cymru), Tracy Downes (Tunstall Healthcare) and James Lampert (NRS).

Falls Panel

Over eighty-five delegates registered for the event which made for a highly interactive discussion with the panel which included the topics of prescription compliance, data analytics, proactive and preventative technologies, working with blue light services, responders and the impact of the analogue to digital transition.

Unfortunately one of our presenters, Kristian Knight from Medequip, was coincidentally called away to assist a faller minutes before the event commenced. The Medequip presentation is available for viewing below, and we would like to thank James Lampert from NRS who very kindly stepped in at the last minute to replace Kristian.

UKTHC September Digital MarketPlace

(11.00-13.00) Tuesday 28th September 2021

Our latest UKTHC Digital MarketPlace event was again very well attended with some very informative presentations and a lively, interactive panel session. Due to technical issues the MedPage Easylink presentation had to be cancelled but this will be rescheduled at a future event.

The second part of the programme covered panel session Falls Prevention and Detection chaired by Phil Bridges (Oysta) with an introductory presentation from Aaron Edwards from Cardiff Council around their work on falls.

The panel covered a wide range of issues, from the importance of detecting and responding to falls swiftly (golden hour) to improve patient recovery and cost savings from reducing hospital admissions and stays, to the use of assessment, data analytics and prescription compliance to address falls prevention.

There were also some interesting debates around providers’ use of various wearable fall detectors and passive monitoring sensors and systems.

Delegates were able to address questions to the panel both prior to and during the event and, given the high level of interest in the subject, we will include follow-up sessions on various aspects of this subject at future events.

If you were unable to attend there is a link to the recording of the webinar at the end of the programme and presentations can be viewed by clicking on the presentation links.

“Interactive & lively!”: A note of thanks from Oysta’s Mario Zuccaro

Being a part of the UKTelehealthcare Panel on Tuesday 9th has been a pleasure and both Philip Bridges and I would like to thank everyone that joined us and contributed. It was an interactive and lively session – just what we were after!

Shifting the dialogue away from what the technology does to what vulnerable independent people (VIP) need, we were lucky enough to have colleagues from the manufacturing and service provision sectors with us, to add their thoughts to the ring.

We had some fantastic questions thrown at us from MarketPlace attendees, covering everything from what is important to VIPs to how we try to engage Government to support the TEC industry as a valued partner. Discussing how we deliver positive outcomes to the VIP as well as to the care providing organisation investing in the technology, we felt that we achieved a useful session with plenty of actions to progress.

Thanks once again for joining us. For further information on Oysta Technology, please visit: www.oysta-technology.com, and find us on LinkedIn, Twitter & Facebook.

Our first MarketPlace event of January 2021 was held on 19th January and was opened with a keynote speech by Jonathan Lord, MP for Woking. Jonathan Lord has served as the MP for Woking since 2010 and has taken an active interest in supporting the provision of healthcare in his constituency.  Mr Lord gave an overview of the Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) provided in his constituency for over thirty years and how these services were used to support the NHS and social care provision during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Jonathan also commented on the national picture for TECS both pre and post the pandemic and his support for the industry through his work with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Longevity.  He is also keen to support the work UKTelehealthcare is currently undertaking with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Assistive Technology (APPGAT) on the Smart Homes and Independent Living Commission and other initiatives that would influence the Government’s National Strategy for Disabled People.

There were also a variety of presentations from our supplier members including Legrand Healthcare, Canary Care, Unicook, Everon and Nutrix.

Thank you to Phil Bridges from Oysta who stepped in at the last minute to host a lively and light-hearted interactive session which, at least for a short time, took our minds off the pandemic and how it’s not only affecting our industry but each one of us personally.  Thanks also to all the presenters and delegates who took part and shared views in our panel session.

Over 60 delegates from across the UK attended the event, but if you missed it a recording is now available on the Members’ Area on our website. (Contact julia@uktelehealthcare.com if you do not have a user account.)

Events 2017-19

Croydon Digital Health and Care MarketPlace

27th November 2019

Over thirty of our supplier members exhibited at our latest Digital Health and Care MarketPlace event on the 27th November 2019 held in Partnership with Croydon Council at the newly opened Fairfield Halls in Croydon.  Joining the exhibitors were teams from Croydon Careline, Croydon Equipment Services and Croydon Vision.  This was the first time that Croydon had held such an event which attracted nearly two hundred delegates from the health and care industry, local businesses and members of the public.

We would like to thank Opama Khan (Head of Digital Place, Croydon Council) who opened the event and Matthew Catchpole (Assistive Technology Development Manager) and his team for supporting the event.  We would also like to thank Adam Bracegirdle and the Conference and Events Team from the Fairfield Halls who helped to make this event such a success.

Apart from being able to view the latest in digital technology on display, delegates were given the opportunity to attend three presentations: Care Technology Now and the Future – John Cruickshank, The Practical Benefits of Digital Telecare in the Real World – Tim Barclay, CEO Appello, and Home Monitoring Systems for Activities of Daily Living – Rachel Pollard, Canary Care.  All three presentations were well attended with lively Q&A sessions and links to the presentations can be found below.

We have had some really positive feedback from delegates, exhibitors and Croydon Council and look forward to supporting and working with the team at Croydon to develop their plans for delivering Digital Healthcare in the future.

Cambridgeshire LogoCambridgeshire TECS MarketPlace 22nd October 2019

Our second very successful Cambridgeshire event was again held at The Burgess Hall, St. Ives in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council with Charlotte Black, Director of Adults & Safeguarding, making the Keynote speech.  About 200 visitors pre-registered for the event with more delegates turning up throughout the day.

New members Assa Abloy and Chiptech UK both exhibited at the MarketPlace and 121 Sync also exhibited for the first time at a UKTelehealthcare event.

Cambridgeshire have been running their Social Care Digital Innovation project with LGSS Digital and Essence Smartcare and presentations were given by Jane Crawford-White from CCC, Adele Gilpin from LGSS Digital and Carl Ryan from Essence.

The stars of the show were undoubtedly the representatives from the Robot Cat Cafe!

Using built in sensors these cats respond to motion and touch such as petting and grooming. They can make movements and purr just like a real cat but without the hassle of feeding or needing litter trays.

These cuddly creatures have been successfully used in care homes for the elderly and with people with autism.

We would like to thank the staff at Cambridgeshire County Council, especially Lucy Forrest (Technology Enabled Care & Sensory Services Team Manager) for all their hard work in making the event so successful, and also the team at the Burgess Hall for their professional help.

February Forums

Our February Forums at Hammersmith Town Hall attracted a large number of members on both days with Virgin Media, BT and OFCOM all presenting on the upcoming digital changeover and the latest updates.

BT and Virgin both have test labs where TECS equipment suppliers can take equipment to be tested over IP lines, and both organisations will be keeping members updated on further developments through the All IP section of our website and the All IP on-line forum.

Gavin Bashar, the Managing Director of Tunstall, also presented at our Providers’ Forum with Mark Stratford, their Digital Transformation Director, on Tunstall’s digital transformation strategy.

Two new members, Lynne Arenas from VisitHealth, and Deepak Samson from Connected Care Solutions, also attended the Forums. Lynne told us about VisitHealth, a private healthcare company bringing services to the home or workplace.(https://visithealth.co.uk).  Deepak showcased their latest product, ETHEL, a smart device for people with little or no computer skills (https://myethel.co.uk).

The presentations prompted a lot of discussion and there were many questions on the digital changeover from members, but there was still time for some humour!

UKTelehealthcare would like to thank all the presenters who came to the Forums, and especially John Patterson from Hammersmith and Fulham for providing the venue. The presentations are all available on the Members’ Area of our website (you will need to log in). If you need a user account please email admin@uktelehealthcare.com.

TECS Hub

The TECS Hub

This year’s UK Health Show held at Excel in London in September featured the UK TECS Hub in partnership with UKTelehealthcare.

The TECS Hub brought together companies providing TECS services and attracted a lot of interest at the show.

UKTelehealthcare members My Liferaft, Sword Health and Kemuri were all featured on the stand and member Frequency Precision were also present at the show.

All UKTelehealthcare members who exhibited had the opportunity to speak at one of the theatres at the UK Health Show.

After the presentations a number of delegates visited the TECS Hub to find out more about the speakers’ organisations.

UKTelehealthcare would like to thank all the staff at GovNet for providing such a brilliant area for us to exhibit and we hope to have the TECS Hub again at next year’s show.
